Vagina
The Mirko Cup – Clear Large is an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to sanitary pads and tampons. It features a classic shape and firm yet soft material, making it a great period cup for beginners and those with a low-hanging cervix.
Made from medical-grade silicone, this period device can last you up to 10 years— imagine all the savings you can get from using this instead of getting disposable period products! It’s also US FDA certified and has an ISO 13845 certification. So go ahead, go for the switch with this menstrual cup! Each set comes with 1 menstrual cup, 1 breathable pouch, and a QR code for instructions.
Using the Mirko Cup – Clear Large is pretty simple but may sound complicated if you’re a beginner. Please keep in mind that it may take a few practices to perfectly insert this period cup. You may also need a water-based and unflavored lubricant to smoothly push this product inside your vagina.
Position: We recommend doing this on the toilet or in the shower. After making sure your hands and your cup are clean, get comfortable. The common positions for inserting this product are squatting and sitting with your legs spread open.
Fold: There are a number of folds you can try, with the most popular ones being the c-fold and punch-down fold. To learn more about the folding process, check this brief article.
Insert: With your free hand, part your labia lips. While your cup is folded, insert its rim first into your vagina at around a 45-degree angle and aim it towards the base of your spine. Slowly push your cup in until you can no longer see the end of the stem or you reach an end – then release.
Securing: Inserted the cup? Good. Trace your finger around the base of the cup to check if it’s fully open. If you feel any dents or folds, gently grip the base of the cup and slowly rotate it to help it unfold.
Wear: Wear your period cup for a maximum of 10-12 hours at a time. If you experience a heavier flow, you may have to empty it more than twice a day. Mirko’s small menstrual cup can generally hold 4x the capacity of your regular tampon or pad.
Removal: Reach for the base and pinch. Once pinched, the cup’s suction seal should break inside your vaginal canal. Fold the cup to a smaller size and slowly pull it out.
Once you’ve removed the menstrual cup, use only mild, unscented oil-free soap or water to clean your cup. We recommend giving it a quick wash every time you remove it and before reinsertion. After the cycle, wash the cup and keep it in a breathable container that is easily accessible for your next use.
